The Last Last Goodbye
Friday and Saturday, Jan. 12 and 13

This is it, True Blue fans. Your last chance to hear Bob Dorr & The Blue Band in its glory — except for an IPTV fundraiser Jan. 20 in Johnston. But this is the big weekend blowout in the Riverside Casino Show Lounge, which means the concerts are free. Eastern Iowa’s “blues-soul-rockabilly-reggae band” will be twisting the night away right up to midnight Friday and Saturday, with lots of friends, configurations and hits. And Friday (1/12) is Dorr’s birthday, so cake will put the icing on the farewell finale.

The Last Last Goodbye -- Friday (1/12): 7:30 p.m. to midnight, with The Blue Trio, BlueMississippi, The Parlor City Jam Band and The Blue Band; Saturday (1/13): Duke Tumatoe opens 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., The Blue Band Says Goodbye, 9 p.m. to midnight; Site: Riverside Casino and Resort Show Lounge, 3184 Highway 22, Riverside; free admission

Squirrel Nut Zippers
Sunday, Jan. 14

Part of the ’90s swing revival craze, the Squirrel Nut Zippers are flying back to Iowa City on Sunday night. It’s been two decades since the North Carolina band’s most celebrated and commercially successful album, “Hot,” was heating up the dance floors and airwaves. The collection was remastered and re-released in 2016. “It’s not a reunion, it’s a revival,” band leader Jimbo Mathus said at the time. “The band includes cutting edge talent from New Orleans and the songs have been brought to life in an exciting new way.” Plans are underway for a new album, too.

Squirrel Nut Zippers -- 7 p.m. Sunday (1/14), Englert Theatre, 221 E. Washington St., Iowa City; $35, Englert Box Office, (319) 688-2653 or
