Event Description

Part of the 12th Iowa Dance Festival, ScreenDance presents a curated program of short films, selected from over 100 entries from 25 different countries. Celebrating a genre of dance made exclusively for the camera, ScreenDance spotlights films that use dance and movement as the central theme of the story. Moderated by choreographer and Festival keynote speaker Marta Renzi.

A platform for dancers, choreographers, filmmakers, writers, screenwriters, poets and artists to explore this interdisciplinary genre and offering Iowa City audiences the opportunity to engage with this international celebration of dance and art.

Now celebrating its third year, ScreenDance is honored to welcome Mara Renzi, NEA award recipient, as Festival keynote speaker and moderator. Officially selected films will be screened at FilmScene on April 28 and 29, beginning with a conversation with Renzi at 11:30AM.
