Event Description

Time to turn off the TV and pull the kids away from the video game, the Cedar Rapids Skyhawks are providing free live entertainment for all ages. The Skyhawks demonstration day provides an opportunity for club pilots to show spectators model aircraft of all types and sizes and promote the radio controlled aircraft hobby. Club pilots have aircraft ranging from over 10’ across to small park fliers weighing less than one pound. Impressive scale warplanes, large stunt planes, and even helicopters will be represented. RC Jets powered by miniature turbines will also be demonstrated.

The event is located at the Skyhawks club field north of town near county home road. Head north on C avenue towards county home road.  3125 C Ave EXT NE, Marion, is on your right before you get to County home road. The scheduled time for the demonstration is from 1:00 to 4:00 PM on Saturday, June 5th. If the weather is poor the event will be held on Sunday, June 6th.

Models will be flown by Skyhawks pilots of all ages. This event is an opportunity for the club to promote radio controlled flying and show those interested what can be attained through participation in the hobby. Members will be on hand to answer questions and guide those who would like to participate in the future.

Modern radio controlled systems allow for complexity and reliability unheard of in years past. New inexpensive radio systems and almost ready to fly aircraft have made it even easier for someone to get into the hobby.
