Mary’s Farm Sanctuary, co-partnering with Shelter House, Iowa City, has launched a drive for pairs of new socks to be distributed during National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week November 11-17, 2018.
Shelter House provides safe shelter and helps people improve the quality of their lives as they move beyond homelessness. Mary's Farm Sanctuary is a non-profit retirement center for equines, goats, dogs and cats in Lone Tree, Iowa.
The goal of the drive is to collect 500 pairs of new socks to go with coats donated to Shelter House to distribute to folks in need in November.
Several University of Iowa departments will have donation boxes, which will also be at Hy Vee and other Iowa City, Coralville and Johnson County Locations:
University of Iowa: Art & Art History, Engineering, Gender Studies, Journalism, International Writing Program, Music, Native American Studies, Office of the VP for Research and Economic Development, Obermann Center for the Humanities, Political Science
Ace Hardware-N. Dodge, Ann Connors Dentistry, Big Grove Brewery, Buzz Salon, College Board-Coralville, Englert Theater, Fareway Commerce Dr., Her Soup Kitchen, Hills Bank, S. Sox Donation Boxes can be found in these locations from early Oct to Nov 12, 2018. Socks can also be mailed to Mary’s Farm Sanctuary, 5630 Wapello Ave SE, Lone Tree, IA 52755
The donation boxes will be collected by Mary’s Farm Sanctuary volunteers on November 13th and delivered to Shelter House during National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week, November 11-17.
