DJ Caterwaul, our lead experimenter for the night, will be spinning records and coordinating a multi-channel video projection on the front lawn of the Heart House. Costumes encouraged. Our suggested theme is Come as a Well Known Artist or Artwork. We've been known to give out prizes in the past for creative interpretations. There's a high probability of hot chocolate and other treats. Bring a lawn chair or blanket so you can hang out and enjoy the experience. Don't miss this one.

Farmhouse Art Collective presents Some Assembly Required. This exhibition features exquisite corpses assembled from drawings of figures created by participants who responded to an open call for art. Adapted from a game popularized by Surrealists, the result is a collection of collaborative creatures that no one participant could have planned or created alone.

This workshop is for people who want to write using their memories as material. Our time together will be as basic as writing from a prompt and then reading it aloud. Our aim is to inspire and excite you so that, day by day, you will continue to write. Your stories, written and shared, will connect you with yourself and others in new and meaningful ways. No writing experience is necessary. All who love the written word are welcome to join us! Our workshop will be led by Deane Watters. Deane is a warm, coffee-loving, early riser, who is intent on inspiring people to explore their memories and discover more of themselves in the process. You can savor grace-filled moments with her writing at deanejane.com

Over the years we’ve learned how essential it is for artists to have community. We’re at our best when we’re sharing our work, getting feedback from other artists, and finding opportunities to collaborate.
We’re interested in Tree of Liminality + Farmhouse Art Collective being a space for this to happen, and invite you to Art Chat with us on the Second Thursday of the month.
If you’re engaged in a creative process of any kind, such as visual art, creative writing, or performance, bring what you’re working on and we’ll talk about it.
Casual vibe. RSVPs encouraged. We can’t wait to see what you’re making.
This is a pay what you can event with a $5 suggested donation to our 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Learn to make your own aromatic bath salts and shower steamers using botanical ingredients in this hands-on workshop led by Astrid Selander. You'll take home some of both to add to your wintertime self-care routine, along with a homemade herbal tea. Astrid has been a lifelong student of herbalism. She studied at Albuquerque Herbalism, the New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics, and Shabeta's Garden in Albuquerque. She is currently studying through the Chestnut School of Herbalism. Now that she's settled in Cedar Rapids, she hopes to share what she's learned through teaching workshops and herbalism classes.
