Tremble Clefs was founded in Scottsdale, AZ in 1994 and is expanding to Iowa City to engage the PD community in music therapy and social support. The loss of voice, communication difficulties resulting in a decreased volume of voice and lung capacity, and depression are the common symptoms of PD. This weekly program will provide vocal, breathing, and movement exercises that benefit the participants to meet their specific needs in PD and create a supportive and therapeutic environment for the individuals with PD and their caregivers. Sun Joo Lee, a board-certified music therapist and a director of Tremble Clef, AZ, who has been leading the group since 2008, will facilitate the program in Iowa City. We welcome anyone with Parkinson’s, along with their spouse, caregivers, and extended family members. No musical experience or background is required to participate in the program. International Speed Friendshipping

Tuesday, October 3, 4:00 pm

Location: Assembly Room

In honor of the United Nations International Day of Older Persons, celebrated each year on October 1, ICSC will host an afternoon of speed "friendshipping" with an emphasis on making international connections. Everyone is welcome, and we’re extending a special invitation to those who were born outside of the United States or lived abroad for a number of years. Using a speed dating format (but for making friends rather than dating), participants will have a chance to meet and chat with community members, have some fun, and maybe even take the first step in creating new and lasting friendships. The event will start with a group icebreaker activity, shift to timed 1:1 conversations, and wrap up with open socializing and refreshments.
2023-09-08 17:00:00 -0500Iowa City Senior CenterIowa City0.0 00.0 -
