Truth Download 2020 Google Suite Meetings are Safe Spaces where we discuss race in America, systemic racism, anti-racism, police brutality, and white privilege. Community members who live in and around Johnson County Iowa have been invited, but people from other Counties are also welcome. We have difficult, personal conversations with the hope that neighbor to neighbor – we can build a racially just future for every one of us. All Religions are respected here. #TD2020 Hosts three Types of Virtual Meetings 1) One is for BIPOC students attending middle school, high school, and for teens not currently able to attend school. If you find that you are more at ease discussing your personal life without white students present – this group is a good fit for you. We also welcome college students and mentors of color with experiences and insights to share. Meeting Times: Every Saturday and Monday: 7pm-9pm (arrive and leave anytime) 2) One is for students of all races who would like to be Racial Justice Allies. It’s open to students attending middle school, high school, and for teens not currently able to attend school. This group’s conversations will focus on racial equity, understanding each other, and on how we can build a better future in America. Meeting Times: Every Saturday: 3pm-5pm (arrive and leave anytime) 3) One is for adults of all races and from all walks of life. The discussions will center on understanding systemic racism, white privilege, police policies, procedures, and our own roles as Racial Justice Allies. We also welcome college students and mentors of color with experiences and insights to share. When we see life through each other’s eyes – societal change is possible.
