The Art of Nature & Nature of Art at Prairiewoods: Poetry

Join Prairiewoods (120 East Boyson Road in Hiawatha) every other month as we reflect in nature and express our mindful exploration through art. The October session will feature Prairiewoods’ artist-in-residence, poet Carol Tyx, as we celebrate fall’s emergence. We will explore the woodland, prairie, wetlands and gardens, and engage with a deeper understanding of the ecology that encompasses our environment. Upon the conclusion of our walk, Carol will help us to reflect on what we observed and manifest it in the form of poetry. A free-will offering will be accepted. For more information or to register, contact Prairiewoods at www.Prairiewoods.org or 319-395-6700.
2022-06-20 12:00:00 -050010/08/2210:00 a.m.Prairiewoods Franciscan Spirituality CenterHiawatha -

Tomás and Charlie Lasansky: An Artistic Union

June 4, 2022-September 11, 2022

Tomás Lasansky, son of famed printmaker Mauricio Lasansky, and his wife Charlie have been lifelong artists living and working in Iowa City. Both specialize in figural art and have created extensive bodies of work depicting family members as well as famous writers, leaders, humanitarians, and artists of this and previous generations. Working in close proximity to each other, they no doubt influence each other in subtle yet significant ways. This exhibition, the first two-person exhibition of their work, explores the potential relationships that exist between their work. This exhibition is accompanied by a significant retrospective book, documenting each artist’s growth and development.
2022-08-19 16:00:00 -05008/19/2212:00 p.m.Cedar Rapids Museum of ArtCedar Rapids -
