The novel follows Tommy Llewellyn – every year on his birthday, his existence is erased. Everyone simply forgets him in a phenomenon he has dubbed The Reset. So Tommy never lets himself dream about a future where he wins over the girl of his dreams, much less a future where he leaves a lasting impact on the world…until he realizes there may be a way to trick The Reset and control his destiny.

About the author: Michael Thompson is an Australian journalist, producer and media executive. He was the Executive Producer of the nationally- broadcast Ray Hadley Morning Show, then the Head of Content for Macquarie Media, and has won numerous professional awards including a Kennedy Award for Journalism. Beyond the pristine beaches and iconic lighthouse lies the beautiful old library that belongs to Ivy’s family. While that bound Ivy to the island as an adult, Ariana could not leave Mariners behind fast enough. The town holds too many…memories. Not only her unrequited feelings for Cam, but the tragedy that left a scar on the community.

When a young girl went missing, a teenage Cam was unthinkably the prime suspect. Ariana and Ivy knew he couldn’t have hurt anyone, and they promised to protect him—even if it meant lying on his behalf.

Now, twenty years later, Ariana returns to Mariners just as new evidence emerges on the case, calling into question everything the three friends thought they knew—and everyone they thought they could trust. What really happened that night? Over the course of one eventful summer, Ariana, Ivy and Cam will learn the truth—about their pasts, their futures and the ties that still bind them as closely as the pages of a book…
2022-12-27 19:30:00 -06005/19/236:30 p.m.Swamp Fox BookstoreMarion -

ArtLinks: View & respond to works by incarcerated artists

This ArtLinks event is presented in partnership with Justice Arts Coalition (JAC), a national network and resource center for those creating art in and around the criminal legal system. This event will provide participants with an opportunity to view new work by incarcerated artists in JAC’s network. Participants are encouraged to share feedback, reflections, and encouragement with the artists through hand-written letters, which JAC sends off to the artists. Time and time again, JAC hears how much it means to the artists to know that folks on the outside are seeing, appreciating, and being impacted by their work. Knowing that you took time to engage with their work, and that it spoke to you, brings them hope and validation and inspires them to keep creating. We want all of the artists who have entrusted their work to JAC to know how much they matter, so we hope that you will join us for this ArtLinks event! Register here.

This is the first ArtLinks event to be offered in Cedar Rapids and is hosted by Coe's Prison Learning Initiative.

Event will be in Room 203, Dows Fine Arts Center.
2023-03-03 20:00:00 -06003/23/237:00 p.m.Coe CollegeCedar Rapids -

Her love affair with Prague's supernatural legends began with the stories her Czechoslovak grandfather shared, and (now that she knows that there are no monsters under the bed) she is thrilled to be able to take the reader on a magical tour of this most ghostly of cities in her new book, Haunted Prague.

A professional writer and award winning speechwriter, Michele is a former United States National Collegiate Champion in public speaking and a Fulbright Scholar to the University of London. She has served as a speechwriter for the President’s Cabinet, the United States Senate, and the Presidents of the University of Pennsylvania and Georgetown. An avid traveler, Michele has visited 37 countries on six continents. She has visited Prague many times and lived there in 1991--looking for monsters and spirits not just under the bed but around every corner and on every street and square.

About Haunted Prague
Prague is the most haunted of places. It is a city where magic and mystery can be found at every turn. The thirty-nine supernatural legends in this book, all but one associated with notable tourist attractions, are more than fascinating stories set in Prague. They also capture the city's images and imagination better than any guidebook or history book. This is not a collection of folktales, but only of supernatural legends for which Prague is unsurpassed. The writing is original, and the setting of each tale is described in detail to allow even an armchair traveler a magical tour of this captivating city. The stories also serve as the framework for providing an overview of Czech history and culture as we celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the First Czechoslovak Republic.
2023-03-06 20:00:00 -06003/28/237:00 p.m.Swamp Fox BookstoreMarion -
