Steep Canyon Rangers
<p>Steep Canyon Rangers (SCR) has affirmed their place as one of the most versatile bands in contemporary American music. The Grammy Award-winning sextet has spent nearly two decades shaping the bluegrass aesthetic, wedding it to elements of pop, country, and folk to create something original. Since SCR came together in 2000, they have developed a remarkable catalogue of original music that links them to the past while demonstrating their ambitious intent to bring string-based music into contemporary relevance. SCR is easily among the hardest working bands in any genre, pulling double duty on their own and as collaborators with Steve Martin. You can find Cotter headlining at comedy clubs such as The Improv, Catch a Rising Star, and Caroline’s On Broadway. Shesh Besh: The Arag-Jewish Ensemble
<p>Shesh Besh is a model of mutual respect in a turbulent, violent Middle East seeking an elusive balance of East and West through music while embodying two cultures living together in harmony. Shesh Besh is comprised of two members of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra alongside three of the finest musicians from Israel’s Arab community. Instrumentation will include violin, oud, flute, double bass, and percussion (deff and darbuka). Damien Sneed's We Shall Overcome: A Celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
<p>Inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., We Shall Overcome showcases repertoire from the African American music traditions that electrified generations of civil rights activists with interwoven spoken word from Dr. King’s recorded speeches. Musical Director Damien Sneed has conducted and collaborated major original works for Wynton Marsalis, regularly accompanies Jessye Norman, and has toured extensively with Diana Ross and Aretha Franklin. This production featuring a full ensemble of vocals and instrumentals ties together music and culture that includes traditional gospel, modern gospel, classical, jazz, Broadway, and spirituals. Siberian State Symphony Orchestra
<p>Direct from Krasnoyarsk, Russia, the 80-member Siberian State Symphony Orchestra will embark on an eight-week US tour in January 2020. Founded in 1977, the orchestra earned a reputation as one of the best Russian orchestras. Performing throughout Russia and the world with the finest Russian soloists. Artistic Director and Conductor Vladimir Lande leads the orchestra. Pinocchio
<p>Missoula Children’s Theatre presents an original adaptation of the classic fairy tale Pinocchio, featuring a cast of local youth. Geppetto fashioned the puppet in the image of a small boy. Even as the lonely and kind woodcarver worked far into the night, Geppetto was not aware that the wood under the chisel had come from the trunk of an enchanted tree. But the Blue Fairy was aware, as she watched from afar and gave to that puppet the gift of life. <p>Piano Fondue presents a fully-interactive, high-energy, sing-along show. Two entertainers take their places behind two baby grand pianos on stage, and the audience controls the set list on their smartphones. Audience members can visit Piano Fondue’s request website, view the set list, and manipulate it in real-time. They can add songs to the list or move songs around. <p>Give ’Em Hell Harry!, written by Samuel Gallu, is a faithful and often humorous portrayal of President Harry S. Truman’s life and presidency. It spans his childhood, his political apprenticeship as a judge in Jackson County, Missouri, his years in the US Senate, and his momentous two terms as president. Actor James Whitmore originated the role in 1975. Yid Yicious, "Kick-Ass" Klezmer Band
<p>Yid Vicious was formed in 1995 in Madison, Wisconsin, in order to ameliorate the woeful dearth</p><p>of klezmer in America’s otherwise pleasant heartland. Klezmer is Yiddish folk music, music for dancing and celebrating, and Yid Vicious has been spreading its infectious, original blend of freylekh fun throughout the Midwest and beyond for over a decade. Rather than replicate a particular time and place, Yid Vicious celebrates the long-standing tradition of klezmorim and incorporates new musical ideas into an organic and ever-evolving art form. The band’s seven members blend their backgrounds in classical, jazz, and world music to create a klezmer experience that will electrify audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
