Soul Care: Creative Arts Grief Support Group at Prairiewoods

Take time to connect with others in grief and engage the creative spark. Jamie Siela, LISW, from UnityPoint Hospice facilitates this monthly grief group open to anyone grieving loss through death. On the third Wednesday of each month, come together online or in person to explore a different creative art medium. On April 19, we will create a safe place tied pillow. A physical object that reminds us of our loved one can be very important to have during the grief process. These pillows can be that object to remember and squeeze when missing our special person. Registration is required by noon nine days in advance. Group art kits will be mailed to those who will be joining online one week prior to the session. Please note at registration if you plan to attend in person or online. This group is free and includes all art supplies. For more information or to register, contact Prairiewoods at www.Prairiewoods.org or 319-395-6700.
2023-02-20 19:00:00 -06004/19/235:30 p.m.Prairiewoods Franciscan Spirituality CenterHiawatha -

Bridge to Opportunities for Older Adults

Gifts of Dementia with Teri Skoog. Although individuals experiencing dementia lose some cognitive skills, changes usually occur slowly over years. We often keep our primary thinking skills and continue to live in the present—fully able to enjoy beauty, emotions, and companionship. There are strengths and gifts in dementia and both you and your loved one will benefit when you understand how to recognize skills lost and skills kept. Understanding strength-based dementia supportive care will help eliminate a sense of suffering, keep your loved one home longer, with fewer behavior problems, and your family will have less stress and expense.

Bridge to Opportunities meets at Four Oaks Bridge Campus, 2100 1st Ave. NE, Cedar Rapid, directly across from Cottage Grove Place and Cottage Grove Ave. Parking and entrance, including handicap ramp, are at the back of the building.

Questions: Phone: 319-640-5357.
2023-03-15 11:30:00 -05004/06/239:00 a.m.Life Enrichment CenterCedar Rapids
