3rd Annual Community Safety & Wellness Fair
<p>Cedar Rapids Central Church of Christ, Cleveland Area Neighborhood Association - Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Safe Kids Linn County are proud to host the 3rd Annual Community Safety & Wellness Fair on Saturday, July 16th at Cleveland Park in Cedar Rapids. This year’s fair will run from 10am to 1pm for families in Linn County.</p><p>Admission is FREE. No pre-registration or tickets required. Registration will be at the welcome tents at the event.</p><p>Children and families will have the opportunity to check out safety stations with information on pedestrian and bicycle safety, poison and drug safety, fire safety, and a variety of local agencies providing community resources, including Cedar Rapids Police Department, Cedar Rapids Fire Department, Central Furniture Rescue, Willis Dady, and more. There will be yard games, crafts, and other fun activities for families to participate in.</p><p>Those who attend will have the opportunity to enter to win a car seat, bicycle helmets, gift cards, and other special prizes. Special guests at the fair will include some of our local mascot friends - and a few other surprise guests!</p><p>The Cleveland Area Neighborhood Association welcomes families to enjoy the new playground at Cleveland Park and to join us for a picnic lunch fundraiser. Lunch will be served for the duration of the event (10am to 1pm). It will not be rescheduled in 2022.</p><p>Q: How do I enter to win the prizes?<br>A: To enter to win the prizes, you’ll be asked to submit your “Event Passport” completed with your name and contact information after visiting all of the booths. When you arrive, stop by the registration table to pick up your Event Passport. With the Event Passport, you will need to stop at each booth and get a signature or sticker from a booth representative.</p><p>Q: Who is eligible to win the prizes?<br>A: Prizes will be given away at 12:30pm. <p>Time to make some ooey gooey scented slime!</p><p>Welcome all creative kids (and grownups) for a slimy activity! Let your kids make a mess at my place instead of yours!<br>EichenPaint presents: DIY Scented Slime Sunday! Kids of all ages can come (grown up kids, too) anytime during the hours of 11:00AM-1:00PM and for $20 per kit they can make a scented slime with me that they can take with them. Fun scents to choose from will include bubble gum, cola, pink lemonade, marshmallow, cotton candy, or cupcake! I’ll provide all of the materials. Parental supervision required. There will be aprons, but kids are experts at finding mess loopholes, so no need to wear tuxedos or fine silk. Tickets may be purchased in advance and on site. Series: Folk Crafting With Nature
<h2 data-hook="about">About the Event</h5><div data-hook="about-section-wrapper"><div data-hook="about-section-text"><p>This series will walk you through the “how tos” of three different natures based folk art projects, cyanotypes, flower crowns, and one surprise experience. We will then embark on a journey to collect items needed and craft together. You will leave with completed projects to utilize yourself or share with friends and family. The Art of Paper Cutting
<ul><li><strong>Let's Get Creative. Join us on Saturday, July 16, 9:30-11:30 am at </strong>St. Paul’s UMC Art Space Classroom, third floor (1340 3rd Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids). An introduction to the art of paper cutting. Participants will view examples of paper cutting from various cultures, practice using a craft knife with a pre-printed design, and then create their own original design. Join us as we link our movements with our breath and cultivate strength, flexibility and relaxation through regular hatha-style yoga classes. RYT-200 Hour Certified Yoga Alliance Instructor Heather English offers gentle/beginner’s yoga every Monday and Thursday. (Please note that yoga will not meet in the evening this summer.) People of all fitness levels and abilities are encouraged to participate whenever available. Heather began practicing yoga for the mental health benefits and became a yoga instructor in order to share these amazing benefits with others. She is inspired by the potential that a regular yoga practice has for impacting so many areas of life. In fact, it was her yoga training that motivated her to begin crafting as a career, to share her crafting with others, and to regularly explore the intersection of yoga and creativity.
