Joseph Hall: ELVIS Rock N Remember

ELVIS IS IN THE BUILDING! Joseph Hall is thrilled to present his Elvis Rock N Remember tribute show! This show celebrates the roots of Elvis, yet is a fast-paced concert that makes it difficult for you to stay in your seat. It caters to both the young and the young at heart. He's got the look, the voice, the charm and the moves that take us back to a time when parents were flabbergasted by the flauntingly provocative hip action.

In Hall's Elvis Rock N Remember show, he achieves a powerful flashback experience to the moment when fans fell in love with the talented, handsome, carefree, energetic, high-spirited young man that is Elvis Presley. The show is masterfully produced with a mixture of Elvis hits from rock n roll, country, pop to gospel, multiple costume changes and a heartfelt tribute to our veterans. He's even got the teddy bears and scarves to woo the ladies. A must-see for all ages!

Joseph Hall, born in 1984, has been paying tribute to the legacy of Elvis Presley since 2006. He starred on NBC's America's Got Talent in 2008, making 6 TV appearances, viewed by more than 90 million people and placing as one of the top 10 finalists! Sharon Osbourne impressed enough to tell him, "I've got shoes older than you, but I'd like to try you on!" Also, Piers Morgan quoted saying, "ELVIS IS BACK!" Joseph Hall has performed all over the world! Joseph Hall has won accolades throughout his young career including the "Spirit of Elvis " award. Joseph Hall has worked with Elvis Presley Enterprises, Legends in Concert, and has officially been recognized as one of the top tribute artists in the world today. Hall says "My goal is to capture the essence of Elvis Presley, to pay tribute with the utmost respect to his legacy, his music, his image and above all else his fans.”

Tickets to this event are non-refundable.
2/20/217:00 p.m.Coralville Center for the Performing ArtsCoralville -

Active Hope: Answering Earth’s Call for Transformative Healing & Loving Action Retreat with Prairiewoods

As Joanna Macy writes, “Active Hope is not wishful thinking. Active Hope is waking up to the beauty of life on whose behalf we can act. We belong to this world. The web of life is calling us forth at this time and we are here to play our part. Active Hope is a readiness to discover the strengths in ourselves and in others; a readiness to discover the reasons for hope and the occasions for love.” In this online retreat via Zoom, we will move through the spiral of The Work That Reconnects with the understanding that Earth is calling us to engage in transformative healing and loving action during these challenging times. Through our exploration, we will cultivate and strengthen our resilience to engage with COVID-19, the climate crisis, racial and environmental injustice, and overall anxiety in our lives. Joanna Macy–protege and Active Hope aficionada Kathleen Rude, author of the eco-mystical novel The Redemption of Red Fire Woman, will facilitate this 24-hour retreat. We will spend time online in community and offline in self-reflection (with time outside, if we’re able) to receive inspiration and healing for our weary, overwhelmed hearts and souls. In supportive and trustworthy space, we will honor our pain for the world, reconnect to active hope, and find clarity around how we can play a part in the healing of our communities and our beautiful planet. This online retreat is designed with lots of breaks, offline exercises and a lunch break. The workshop is highly interactive with ritual and sharing in pairs, small groups and full group conversations. It includes experiential practices, inspirational readings, singing and simple rituals. It’s engaging and invigorating and gives us tools for dealing with the challenges of living in difficult times. The cost of this online retreat is $150. For more information or to register, contact Prairiewoods at www.Prairiewoods.org or 319-395-6700.
2/12/216:30 p.m.Prairiewoods Franciscan Spirituality CenterHiawatha -

Release, Reset, Return: Rediscover Your Original Balance with Prairiewoods

Work, habit, injury, trauma, stress, and gravity all challenge our ability to stand tall, stay focused on the things we need and want to do, and participate fully in life. Traditional Chinese martial and healing arts offer methods for training ourselves to accept and engage life's challenges with strength, balance and grace. This is a four-week course (Feb. 3–24) offered via Zoom through Prairiewoods. We will learn methods for developing body awareness with the goal of rediscovering what the facilitator, Gerry Hopkins, calls our original balance, a state of optimal alignment, relaxation and focus. We will also learn a short Tai Chi form to practice maintaining this state as we move through this world. Gerry has practiced and studied martial arts for thirty-five years and taught Tai Chi and Qigong for seventeen. Before the Coronavirus, he facilitated workshops in a local prison as part of the Alternatives to Violence Project. In addition to learning from several masters of Chinese Martial arts, he has also studied with Paul Linden, Aikido Master and creator of Being in Movement. The cost is $20 to Prairiewoods for the four-week series. For more information or to register, contact Prairiewoods at www.Prairiewoods.org or 319-395-6700.
2020-12-15 19:00:00 -06002/03/216:00 p.m.Prairiewoods Franciscan Spirituality CenterHiawatha -

Blakelock: By the Light of the Moon Art Exhibit

Forgeries, mental illness, intrigue, and rapid fame—the dramatic circumstances of Ralph Albert Blakelock’s life often overshadow the merits of his work. By the Light of the Moon will feature eight exceptional artworks by Blakelock from the museum collection. Born in 1847, his early paintings were highly detailed landscapes inspired by Hudson River School painters. After traveling to the American West and becoming familiar with Barbizon painters, Blakelock developed the atmospheric landscapes for which he is known. Drenched in darkness and silvery moonlight, his thickly painted landscapes have a distinctive otherworldly quality. This exhibition will explore Blakelock’s body of work and how his interest in spiritualism is reflected in his artistic practice.
2021-01-26 17:00:00 -06001/26/2110:00 a.m.Figge Art MuseumDavenport -
