<p>Summer Camp: Clay Boot Camp</p><p>2KA </p><p>This class will show you a variety of techniques for working with clay including: Wheel throwing, coiling and hand building. You will also learn to glaze your pieces and will be introduced to the techniques for firing your items. Summer Camp: Clay Wheel Experience
<p>The Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio is entering our 10<sup>th</sup> year of providing art education through our Summer Camp Programs. We have over 50 different summer camps for 2019! Our summer camps are divided into three age groups: ages 5-8, ages 8-11 and ages 11-15. Our multi day camps are intended to provide a variety of ceramic and warm glass education, with multiple projects created at the end of their session. We also offer a large variety of project based one-day workshops, which create one project in a 2 hour session. Pre-registration is required as spaces are limited, register online early to secure your camper’s spot! </p><p><br></p><p>Summer Camp: Wheel Experience</p><p>2KP2</p><p>Whether this is your first attempt on the wheel or a returning student, there is a lot to experience! John Beckelman: Horizon Suite
<p>John Beckelman’s Horizon Suite is a group of six recently-completed three-dimensional landscapes. Using the expressive potential of clay and a variety of other materials, Beckelman’s work explores the transitional space where the sky meets the land or sea. The horizontal sweep of this space is mediated by intimate moments of surprising texture, shifting light, and fleeting color. Horizon Suite attempts to gently entice the viewer into the inner landscapes and interior spaces of our imagination and memory. Beckelman finds a curious intersection between the seemingly enduring and timeless character of earth and the fleeting yet wonderful impermanence of the world in which we live. John Beckelman's art has been shown in exhibitions throughout the country and he has been the recipient of numerous awards, commissions, and grants. He received his master of fine arts degree in ceramics and his master of science degree in ceramics from Illinois State University. Beckelman is the Robert O. Terra Nova: Ten Years
<p>The CRMA celebrates ten years of collaborating with the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio. In 2009, the CRMA began meeting with artists who had completed residencies at the Ceramics Center and acquiring a piece of their work—often completed during their residency—for the Museum’s collection. This mutually beneficial arrangement allowed the artists to establish themselves in a museum collection and receive professional experience with curators while growing the CRMA’s collection of three-dimensional art. Our summer camps are divided into three age groups: ages 5-8, ages 8-11 and ages 11-15. Our multi day camps are intended to provide a variety of ceramic and warm glass education, with multiple projects created at the end of their session. We also offer a large variety of project based one-day workshops (for ages 7-17), which create one project in a 2 hour session. Finish your creations using glazes, colored slips and paints. This class is always a summer favorite! Summer Camp at iCCGS: Studio Experience
<p>The Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio is entering our 10<sup>th</sup> year of providing art education through our Summer Camp Programs. We have over 50 different summer camps for 2019! John Beckelman: Horizon Suite
<p>John Beckelman’s Horizon Suite is a group of six recently-completed three-dimensional landscapes. Using the expressive potential of clay and a variety of other materials, Beckelman’s work explores the transitional space where the sky meets the land or sea. The horizontal sweep of this space is mediated by intimate moments of surprising texture, shifting light, and fleeting color. Horizon Suite attempts to gently entice the viewer into the inner landscapes and interior spaces of our imagination and memory. Beckelman finds a curious intersection between the seemingly enduring and timeless character of earth and the fleeting yet wonderful impermanence of the world in which we live. John Beckelman's art has been shown in exhibitions throughout the country and he has been the recipient of numerous awards, commissions, and grants. He received his master of fine arts degree in ceramics and his master of science degree in ceramics from Illinois State University. Beckelman is the Robert O. Wheel Try It! Extended Day Workshops on the wheel!
<h5><strong><em>Wheel Try It Sessions: Extended Wheel Class</em></strong></h5><p>This is a one-time class. For this session we will assist you in learning how to center the clay on the wheel and how to create cups and bowls, with more in-depth demonstrations. This class is more about the process of working with the wheel than a specific project, this is great class for kids and parents who are interested in developing a set of skills for working with clay. Each participant will complete at least 1-2 cups or bowls. All materials, tools and instruction from our knowledgeable staff are included. Minimum age is 9 years old. All skill levels are welcome</p><p>Group and personal instruction both take place in these workshops. This is a great way for kids and parents alike who are interested in developing a higher set of skills when working with clay --without the commitment of an eight week class.</p><p>Clay, tool, firing, and instruction from our knowledgeable staff are included. We'll introduce you to the potter's wheel and help you create a piece that we will then fire and glaze for you to take home.
