Moonlit Movie featuring "Encanto"

Nurture Seeds and Soil
<p>Despite what our rushed society implies, late fall is a time to slow down and prepare for a long, rejuvenating winter rest.</p><p><br></p><p>During this class, we will explore the best practices for putting our gardens to bed and how these gardening activities can be applied to our lives for mental, physical and spiritual well-being. Seed-saving, weeding, mulching and cover-cropping will be practiced through fun, hands-on activities.</p><p><br></p><p>Organic methods will be learned; no synthetic pesticides or fertilizers will be discussed.</p><p><br></p><p>You are invited no matter your level of gardening experience. All are welcome.</p><p><br></p><p>Yummy snacks generously provided by New Pioneer Co-op.</p><p><br></p><p>CAN YOU LEAVE A LITTLE EARLY?</p><p>We realize the class may be a little late in the day. National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week
<p>Every year during the week before Thanksgiving, National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week offers an opportunity to engage and educate the community as we move individuals and families beyond homelessness. Each day, Shelter House hosts an event page and posts social media content that will feature educational, service, fundraising, and advocacy information. Critter Catch
<p>Help us celebrate the vital importance of wetlands to our ecological, economic, and social health. Families are invited for a hands-on wetland exploration to discover what critters are living in or around the water. Participants will use nets to catch frogs, crawdads, snails, and insects hatching throughout the wetlands as part of a water quality assessment. Naturalists will help you identify critters and will have microscopes on hand for viewing and identifying samples as well. Check out the on-site exhibits, displays, and activities provided by Iowa State University and other partnering organizations. Come and go from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Cost is free. Caution for Poisons

They can show up on your camping trip or on a walk through the park, and you may even notice them spring up occasionally in your yard or garden. Take a walk with us and identify some of these. Practice being humble with the umbels. Holistic Healing for Educators & Classrooms: Credit 1 at Prairiewoods
<p>Have the stressors of teaching, the pandemic, hybrid-learning and daily life affected your personal happiness and well-being? Have you experienced difficulty finding time to engage in self-care activities that may help? In this in-person 1-hour credit course, learn “micro-interventions” to use daily to reset your brain and empower you to fully show up with a compassionate heart toward yourself, your students, your family and the world. Through practices of mindfulness, self-compassion and neuroscience, begin to restore holistic healing and build resiliency, joy, optimism and curiosity, leading to health and well-being. It provides educators and any school or university staff or administrator with research-based theory, collaborative design and opportunities to practice. A text, <em>Practicing Presence,</em> is included in the registration fee. This course is hosted at Prairiewoods (120 East Boyson Road in Hiawatha) and facilitated by Kim Seward, RN, BSN, CMI, and Ann Jackson, PBVM. Dual registration with Grant Wood Area Education Agency is required. The lodger fee is $100 and includes sessions, lodging and all meals. The commuter fee is $50 and includes sessions and daily lunch. There is an additional charge of $35 to Grant Wood AEA. (Thanks to a generous donation by the Sisters of the Presentation, Dubuque, all additional costs will be covered.)
