The Linn County League of Women Voters is sponsoring four non-partisan candidate forums for area legislative positions Saturday, October 8 at Kirkwood’s Linn Regional Center, 1770 Boyson Road in Hiawatha.

The forums will be in-person and live streamed. Attendees can submit questions during the forums. For those planning to view the livestream, questions may be submitted through an online form at www.lwvlinncounty.org by Friday, October 7 at 5 pm. To view the live stream, click the forum link on this website.

All area candidates for the House and Senate Districts were invited to participate in the forums to share their legislative priorities prior to the November 8 election.

House District 73 candidate Elizabeth Wilson, House District 74 candidate Eric Gjerde and Senate District 37 candidate Molly Donahoe will participate in the 9:00-9:45 am forum. House District 73 candidate Susie Wienacht has a scheduling conflict and Senate District 37 candidate Kurt Bendixen did not respond to the invitation to participate.

Candidates participating in the 10:00-10:45 am forum include House District 77 candidate Jeff Cooling running unopposed, House District 78 candidate Sami Sheetz and Senate District 39 candidate Liz Bennett. House District 78 candidate Anne Fairchild declined to participate as did Senate District 39 candidate Edward Bernie Hayes.

The 11:00-11:45 forum will include House District 79 candidate Tracy Ehlert, who is running unopposed, House District 80 candidates Art Staed and Barrett Hubbard, and Senate District 40 candidates Kris Gulick and Todd Taylor.

The final forum is Noon-12:45 pm with House District 83 candidate Kris Nall, House District 84 candidate Sara Yedlik, and Senate District 43 candidates Charlie McClintock, Bruce Gardner, and Jessica Wiskus.
