Event Description

August 26 &27 there will be an encampment of Civil War reenactors at the Vinton Depot, at  612 2nd Avenue, Vinton, Iowa. This coincides with Boomtown, the best pyrotechnic show in the Midwest held at the Fairgrounds and BoomFest, an Arts & Crafts Festival held downtown on Saturday!

The reenactors consist of Union and Confererate soldiers in period costume. They have educational exhibits set up with examples of food, clothing, money, and equipment that would have been used in the Civil War era. Medical, cannon and mortar demonstrations will be given. Several skirmishes are planned. Audience participation is encouraged!
