Stone City Festival

The annual Stone City Festival will be held Sunday, September 17, 2023, to celebrate the history of Grant Wood country. Artist Grant Wood chose Stone City as the location of his art colony in 1930. Come see this beautiful location that inspired many world-renown artist of that time. Plan to see the iconic ice wagons, a local blacksmith working in the historic blacksmith shop, artists and vendors selling their work, food from The General Store, and much more. Stone City is also the location of the Jones County Freedom Rock, painted by Iowa Artist Ray “Bubba” Sorensen. This beautiful tribute to veterans and the history of the county is a "must see."
