Event Description

Cedar Rapids Railroads – Now and Then

Cedar Rapids railroad historian Darren Ferreter will present historic railroad images from Linn County. The program will show what the area looks like today and then skip back decades to show what the area looked like in earlier times. Subjects include Cedar Rapids Union Station, Streetcars and Interurban lines, and all of the railroads that served the area.

Darren's love for trains came early in his life. Growing up, he recalls many family vacations to photograph trains. His childhood interest has led to a full-time career designing, building, and maintaining model railroad layouts all over the country. Darren is an officer for the local Cedar Rapids Area Railfan Association – a group that presents a monthly railroad themed presentation.
