Event Description

This course will offer practices of mindfulness, social and emotional learning (SEL), self-compassion and neuroscience to develop a personal classroom toolkit for use with students. Deepening your own mindfulness and SEL skills also will be explored. This is the second in a two-part class (with the previous being offered June 24–26). This retreat-like course will occur indoors and outdoors on the beautifully supportive and restorative 72 acres of Prairiewoods Franciscan Spirituality Center (120 East Boyson Road in Hiawatha). Optional opportunities such as massage, yoga, Tai chi and sounding also will be available. The mission of Prairiewoods is to provide natural space for people to explore relationships with Source, self, others and Earth. Overnight lodging is available and strongly encouraged. The cost is $75 to Prairiewoods and $35 to Grant Wood AEA (paid directly to them). Overnight lodging is available for an additional $50 per night. For more information or to register, contact Prairiewoods at www.Prairiewoods.org or 319-395-6700.
