Legendary Iowa City rock band Wax Cannon wish to announce a complete performance of their 2005 critically acclaimed double album "Someone in Madison is Praying for You (and it's not me) to be held at the James Theater 213 N. Gilbert St. Iowa City, IA. on Saturday January 24th at 8 pm. Songwriter and guitarist Jay Miller and songwriter and drummer David Murray wish to celebrate 28 years of their band's musical journey by playing one of their finest albums, of the nine complete albums they have produced since they began playing music together in the Fall of 1998, oh so many years ago.
They wish to invite fans old and new to share the musical variety of Madison in its entirety; from the bouncing swing of the opening track Scott Boulevard Helpers and Forgers, through the slicing power pop of JC Says, to the chiming thrill of Backstabber and the quasi-modo low-key jest of 12 Spaceships on the River. And that is only the first disc. 80 minutes of both bright and somber lyricism and melody await. The crashing punk of The Lemon Boots and the blitz of Moline. The quiet beauty of School of Public health and TB. All topped off with the psychedelic onslaught of The All-Important Week. This could be Eastern Iowa's most transcendent pop rock concert for the whole of 2026! Surely not to be missed by fans of modern rock music.
Tickets to the event will be available through the James Theater. The performance will consist of two 40 minute sets An opening act will be announced.
