Antonio Rocha, a two-time TEDx speaker and recipient of the National Storytelling Network's Circle of Excellence Award, will present his compelling solo show, "The Pedro Tovookan Parris Story." Known for his unique fusion of spoken word, kinetic movement, mime, and realistic vocal sound effects, Rocha brings to life the extraordinary journey of Pedro Tovookan Parris—an African boy, enslaved in Brazil, but later brought to the United States. He eventually settled in Maine, creating an enduring legacy of resilience, dignity, and humanity. “We are honored to bring an artist of Antonio Rocha's international caliber to Cedar Rapids. His ability to weave physical theater with deep historical storytelling creates an unforgettable experience for audiences of all ages."— Sue Schmitt, CEO of TellersBridge Storytellers
