<p>Tour the area's best new & remodeled homes at the Greater Cedar Rapids Spring 2022 Parade of Homes!</p><p>The Parade of Homes is an annual event the Greater Cedar Rapids Housing & Building Association organizes and produces to offer potential home buyers and current homeowners the opportunity to view many of the area’s best new and remodeled homes and exciting new neighborhoods. Visitors to our parade will discover unique homes and floor plans, beautiful communities, the latest in interior design trends and home technology, exterior finishes, outdoor living, and landscaping that will inspire. If you are looking for a new home or thinking about building or remodeling, the Parade of Homes is the perfect place to start your search!</p><p>Several parade homes will be open as usual, offering in-person tours May 14 & 15, 12-5 pm, May 19, 5-8 pm, May 21 & 22, 12-5 pm. However, with an ongoing supply chain crisis, labor shortages and an incredible housing market, other parade homes will not be open to the public but can be viewed through a virtual tour online.</p><p>Tickets available at each parade home for $10. A portion of each ticket sold will be donated to a local nonprofit, WRAP, the Wheelchair Ramp Accessibility Program. Trekfest 37 - Dogs on Skis
<p>Dogs on Skis formed in the mid 1980’s playing covers of classic rock. The band gained popularity in and around Iowa City/Cedar Rapids by focusing on playing songs that people liked to dance to. From the beginning, focus was put on the band’s ability to perform material with vocal harmonies. In 1990 the Dogs released their first album ‘I Bark Therefore I Am’.</p><p>Over the years, the band continued to grow and mature. Instead of becoming complacent and content with where they were, they continually overhaul their material based on crowd reaction and requests. Because of this, they can perform hundreds of songs and can play many of them as requested. Trekfest 37 - Dave Zollo and The Body Electric
<p>The long-awaited new release from Iowa City-based singer/songwriter/bandleader/producer, featuring 9 new songs and made with his touring band, The Body Electric, as well as many musical guests, and is co-produced by long-time musical partner Stephen Howard. Zollo is known for his work as a sideman with such American roots-music luminaries as Todd Snider, Greg Brown, The Pines, and William Elliot Whitmore (to name a few) but also for his work as songwriter and frontman of Iowa's alt-country pioneers, High and Lonesome, and the solo records he made with his own band. This is Zollo's first recording since leaving the record label he founded and ran from 1994-2005, Trailer Records, which put out releases by Greg Brown, Bo Ramsey, High and Lonesome, Pieta Brown, Brother Trucker and Kelly Pardekooper, among many others. <p>The Cedar Rapids Corvette Club is having our 2022 "Cruisin' the Ave" Charity Car Show on Saturday, June 11th at the Cedar Hills Community Church. The church is located at 6455 E Avenue N.W., Cedar Rapids. Our three local charities include: Clothe-A-Child, Miracles In Motion, and Brain Injury Alliance of Iowa (East Iowa Chapter). Fairfax USA Days 5K Race
<p>This is a professionally timed event. Race statistics will be uploaded by the end of the day. Men's and women's prizes awarded for top finishers in various age categories. The course begins and ends at the Fairfax City Hall parking lot (same course as 2021). There are no highway crossings and the route is well marked on low traffic streets and trails. Volunteers will also be positioned to help guide race participants. A manned water station will be at the half-way point. He received his MFA from University of Iowa in choreography and dance. He is able to weave together and connect traditional ballet positions with the elementary teachings of the 5 elements. Every human being has a head, two arms and two legs which equals the five elements. In ballet there are five major positions which relate to the five elements.</p><p><br></p><p>Jenni Rose</p><p>From the age of five Jenni had the opportunity to dance with various dance studios and participated on the Solon High School dance team. She went on to study photography in Chicago, at Harrington School of Design and spent her twenties focused on learning about weaving, natural and synthetic dye processes, and shearing sheep. She interned at The Chicago Weaving School for 2 years, and through that process developed her own weaving curriculum that she then taught to the age of preschool to adult, in Chicago and Seattle. In 2018 she suffered an undiagnosed inflammatory episode that caused significant neuropathy and mobility loss. Rituals and Altars at Harvest Preserve: A Mindful Practice
<p>Join us in learning about the use of ritual and altars within your own healing work, including the benefits of their use as well as how they may provide enhancements to current practices. You will be led through a series of self explorations, focusing on inner growth.</p><p><br></p><p>Consider bringing talismans/charms that are meaningful to you, as well as natural material offerings to leave at altars. Autumn Wild Medicine
<p>Nature reveals a different path in Autumn and beckons us to explore further on. Learn about rosehips, autumn olive, pine, and turkey tail mushrooms, and how to prepare these and other seasonal finds. Taste a yummy wild snack.
