Thelen-Teilhard Christophany Group at Prairiewoods (hybrid)

In collaboration with the Center for Christogenesis, founded by Ilia Delio, OSF, a Franciscan sister and American theologian specializing in the area of science and religion with interests in evolution, physics and neuroscience and their import for theology, this Christophany Group begins its monthly gathering on April 3. Based upon the belief that love is the fundamental energy of evolution, we gather in community, recognizing that we have the opportunity to co-create the universe and participate in the energy of evolution. These groups are formed as spaces of deep relationality with a vision to heal our world and transform lives through the real-world experience of communal reflection, shared friendship and collective spiritual practice based on the insights of Teilhard de Chardin and the authors who interpret and advance his vision. This group, facilitated by Steve Sovern, is an extension of a local spiritual group, Quest, that has been meeting for over 10 years at Prairiewoods. Thelen in the group name is a recognition of Bert Thelen, a Jesuit who serves as a light and inspiration of this group’s vision. It is offered both in person at Prairiewoods (120 East Boyson Road in Hiawatha) and online via Zoom for those attending from a distance. Group discussions will incorporate a lectio divina–like process to assure the inclusion of perspectives of all participants. A free-will offering will be accepted.
