Event Description

Iowa Ideas In-Depth Week – May 13th - 17th

The Iowa Ideas Conference is an annual free virtual conference designed to explore, discuss, and offer solutions to issues impacting the state. There are so many important conversations to be had. To take a deeper look into the topics discussed at the Iowa Ideas Conference, The Gazette and ITC will be having 3 In-Depth Weeks throughout the year. Each In-Depth Week will have 5 sessions focusing on one topic category we want to look further into.

Iowa Ideas will host the second In-Depth Week of the year on May 13-17. This week will cover the Health Care topic of Mental Health.

As demand for mental health care in Iowa is increasing, finding forward paths can be a confusing labyrinth of services with dead-ends, long lines, and a lack of providers to quickly serve those wanting help. What can be done to better serve Iowans?

The session topics for In-Depth Week May 13-17 on Mental Health will be as follows:

  • Monday, May 13 - TBD
  • Tuesday, May 14 - Boosting entry points and capacity in Iowa’s mental health system.
  • Wednesday, May 15 - Increasing engagement in mental health care.
  • Thursday, May 16 - Changes to Iowa’s mental health and substance abuse districts.
  • Friday, May 17 - Working to reduce stigma and avoidance of care.

Take a deeper look into one of the Iowa Ideas Conference’s topics within the Health Care track, Mental Health. May 13-17 from 12 - 1 PM.
